Charlie Nicholas predicts comfortable win for Arsenal against Southampton
Ex-Arsenal striker Charlie Nicholas has predicted that his former club will secure a comfortable victory over Southampton on Saturday.
The former Scotland international, who played for the north London club for four seasons between 1983 and 1987, believes that whilst Southampton have been able to frustrate his former club in recent seasons, he sees nothing but a comfortable win.
Claude Puel’s Saints have struggled so far this season, drawing two and losing one of their opening three Premier League games and Nicholas doesn’t see the south coast side hitting form at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Speaking to Sky Sports about his prediction for the game Nicholas said, “Southampton upset them with their tactics under Ronald Koeman last season but I’ve done them twice so far and they look a bit all over the place.
“They’re taking a while to adjust to the new manager and Claude Puel hasn’t had much time to work with them due to the international break, so I can’t see a sudden upturn in form.
“In contrast, there were positives for a few Arsenal players on international duty and I’m confident of this being a comfortable victory.”
Arsene Wenger’s side began the season with a 4-3 loss at home to Liverpool, followed by a 0-0 draw away to Leicester City but the Frenchman’s side hit form before the international break as they beat Watford 3-1 at Vicarage Road.
Last season whilst under the management of Koeman, Southampton beat the Gunners 4-0 at St Mary’s and drew 0-0 in the away fixture that saw Saints ‘keeper Fraser Forster make 11 saves
ON OTHER HANDS ;
Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has claimed that new striker Lucas Perez will make Premier League defenders “uncomfortable”.
Central defender Mustafi was also a summer addition for the Gunners and having played against Perez in La Liga last season, the Germany international revealed that the Spaniard will work extremely hard for the team.
Mustafi and Perez arrived from Valencia and Deportivo La Coruna respectively during the final week of the transfer window and the former believes that the 27-year-old striker will be in the right place at the right time to score goals.

Speaking to Arsenal Player (via Sky Sports) Mustafi said, “He is uncomfortable to play against, he’s a good striker – he has everything a striker needs.
“He’s someone you can play well with. He doesn’t just run around and wait for someone to give him a pass to score a goal. He works a lot for the team as well and he creates chances.
“He’s in the right place at the right time, as he showed last year in La Liga. I played there for two years and I know it’s not that easy to score many goals in La Liga, because you have great defenders there as well.
“I think he’s going to help the team a lot.

The £17.1million striker was able to get past his former opponent on two occasions last season when he netted during the home and away fixture between Deportivo and Valencia, both of which finished 1-1.
Perez scored 17 goals and provided eight assists for his teammates during the 2015/16, whilst he also created 72 chances across 36 league appearances.
Arsenal’s other main striker, Olivier Giroud displayed similar league form to that of Perez last season as the Frenchman scored 16 goals and provided six assists in 38 appearances.

However, it may not be a case of the strikers battling for a starting place but instead could partner each other- something that Giroud and France striker Antoine Griezmann displayed at Euro 2016, during which the pair produced nine goals and four assists between them
